After 5 years of hard work, delays, stops and starts, we have finished the Imaginal Network video. The idea to make a video was born during the pandemic, inspired by the wife of one of our support group members. She and her husband made an initial contribution that allowed us to film a first round of interviews. Raising the rest of the funds during the pandemic proved to be too much for us, and we tabled the project. Early this year, another donor stepped forward with the funding to complete the project.
We did a second round of interviews with our members and filmed our yoga class and other group activities to finish the video.
In our video, you’ll meet several members of the Wallingford Brain Injury Support Group and our yoga and crafts programs. They share what it has been like for them to live with a brain injury and how our programs have helped them connect with others who have had similar experiences. Their powerful stories paint vivid pictures of the challenges they have faced on their journeys with brain injury. We are so grateful to them for participating in the video.
Completing complex, multi-faceted projects can be difficult for those of us who live with brain injury. Our videographer, Brett Renville, went far beyond the usual tasks of capturing images and sound and editing them into a final product. He shaped the story, asked compelling questions of our members, created transcripts for us to work from and was endlessly patient with how long the process took us. He donated extra hours, made sample short videos for us, and became one of our best supporters.
Our narrator, Marshay Mitchell, is a Seattle model, actor and voice talent who donated her time to provide the voice over for the video. Her deep empathy and ability to connect with people bring warmth and kindness to her work.
Here’s a link to our video – we hope you learn something about what it’s like to live with a brain injury and how Imaginal Network’s programs support our members in moving forward in their lives.
