Creative Expressions: Rock Painting
Join us online for a painting activity that will allow you can bring rocks to life and create a world of figures. The rocks can take many forms such as: statues, indoor/outdoor decorative ornaments, utilitarian objects (like a paperweight or doorstop) – and it is always to fun to see what everyone creates.
Supplies will not be provided. Much of what you need can be sourced from what you already have for free. Please read the supply list below prepare in advance to gather supplied in advance.
After the event you will have the option to submit a picture that we can share with the group and (with your permission) on our social media pages.
What you will need:
- A flat surface to work on.
- Something to protect the surface from paint: like newspaper or old towels.
- Several rocks with flat(ish) surfaces. Please respect nature when collecting the rocks. We recommend sizes that are at least 2-3 inches wide/round, or bigger if you like. Wash the rock(s) ahead of time with dish soap and water, soaking overnight if they are especially dirty. The rock MUST be completely dry before painting. So if you are soaking them over night you will need an extra day to allow them to dry out.
- Set of Acrylic paint pens, similar to these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08KYM8XH6/?coliid=I3724SBU7R6PGJ&colid=19UKM1YFFFNBR&psc=1&ref_=lv_vv_lig_dp_it. We will use these paints for future projects. If you aren’t able to purchase a set of paint pens, please contact Emily (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Amanda (email@example.com).
